Back to Life

 Despite the bursts of sunshine still being somewhat sporadic, it is definitely improving my energy levels when it does arrive. Although I have been paying more attention to my diet of late and trying to eat more protein and less sugar, which is probably helping too.

Anyway, it was an astoundingly busy week. At work I chair our Women in Technology International Women’s Day committee, and with it being the run up to International Women’s Day (which was yesterday if you didn’t know) we had a busy week of events planned. Talks with ladies on the leadership team, tea cake and inspirational discussions with a female business leader. It was all good stuff, and I’m pleased to say very well received. After having been in the office on Wednesday for one of the events, I met up with the chap and we went for dinner.



We visited a spot we’ve not been to before, the Corner Grill House. It’s in a lovely location, on a cobbled road near the river. The interior is lovely and we had a warm welcome. We had starters, then I had chicken supreme and the chap had beef bourginon. 

The food was ok. I enjoyed it and for a midweek dinner it was fine, but probably not somewhere I’d go for a special meal. 

The weekend rolled around, and me and the chap were off to a 40th party in Leeds. Time for the top I finished making last week to get its first outing, and it’s a good job I took this flatlay because I totally failed to get an outfit photo! 



The party was at a golf club, and it was a great chance for us to catch up with friends that we hadn’t seen in a long time. There was lots of conversation.




Bacon butties (or sausage or fishfinger) and wedges on the buffet, beautiful cake and dancing too. It’s was a fabulous party! 



I was the geek taking photos with my instant camera, I’m not sorry. I love these little retro prints! 




We’d had a fun filled evening for sure. The next day was mostly a quiet one, apart from little Miss feeling quite unwell, having picked up another germ at school. Hopefully just a small one that she’ll be over soon enough.

    You look amazing! I love that top so much, I've not bought the pattern yet but it's next on my to-do list.

Half Term Frolics

 This week was half term in Yorkshire, and in true half term style, the weather has left a lot to be desired. Nonetheless I had three days off work to spend with little Miss, which is always fun no matter the weather. We started the week off fairly chilled, spending much of Monday crafting and doing more of our sequin art. We popped out for a coffee in the afternoon, and came home to watch some films. All in all a chilled day.  Tuesday we visited our friends, and I had a good old catch up with C while little Miss played with her son. They've been friends since they we're born, with only a couple of months between them. We only really get to meet up at the holidays and it's amazing to compare the photos of them on playdates when they were 2 or 3 with them now at approaching 7. Round The Sun

 Last week I celebrated my birthday, for pretty much half a week. I certainly like to mark an occasion! Marking my birthday with my favourite cake, Black Forest Gateau The day before my birthday I was in the office. There weren’t many people in so I mostly ended up eating the tub of chocolates I brought with me, to myself! The weather was still divine, so I took a lunchtime walk, and noticed some new graffiti on the streets of York.  In the doorway boy………… After work I met the chap, who treated me to a very indulgent birthday meal at The Ivy. While we waited for our (delicious) Chicken supremes to arrive I was allowed to open my gifts a day early, and was wowed by a stash of Tank Girl merch, including a collection of 3 books that include every edition of Tank Girl, ever. I adored the Tank Girl graphic novels (or comics as I used to call them) in the 90s, and loved the film with Lori Petty too. Easter Weekend

 When I logged off last Wednesday it was in the knowledge that I wouldn’t be back online (for work purposes at least) for well over a week. As much as I enjoy my job, there’s nothing quite like a week of freedom! I met the chap after work, and we went for a pizza and beer to celebrate.  On Thursday, we were unexpectedly graced by the sunshine, which was welcome since we had appointments in town. An eye test for little Miss and nails for me. Although the sun didn’t bring much warmth, it was perfect for wearing these Joe Browns boots Mum bought for me a few Christmases back. I love them but only cool dry days work for them. Boots - Joe Browns, Dress - River Island. Thankfully, little Misses eye test came back perfect. After a spot of shopping, including getting some gifts for little Misses birthday later this month, and raiding the Claire’s accessories clearance sale for bag charms, it was time to get my nails done.
