If you've followed my blog for a while, then you probably already know about my handbag addiction. No matter how many times I say I don't need another bag in my life, there will always be another one to catch my attention. That's fine, as long as I'm using them, right? So, I've started a new habit of changing my bag on the first of the month and aiming to use a bag for a whole month at a time. The point is to encourage me to use more of what I have, and to rediscover pieces I'd forgotten about (or not used at all).
This month I've decided to use my beautiful pink Michael Kors Hamilton tote. This bag was a Christmas gift from the chap a couple of years back. It manages to be both beautiful and practical (I generally lean towards large bags), and I know that people are sometimes a little critical of Michael Kors bags. Personally, I have three, and I love them all. They look nice, and they are good quality.
Of course, whatever bag I use I have to add to the weight by adorning it with junk, and this is no exception. A Jammy dodger bag charm I bought on holiday this year, some sparkly fries which, I can't remember where I picked that up, and a little vial of sugary water used to revive bees in the summer which little miss encouraged me to buy in Edinburgh earlier this year. I also use this custom bag strap from a shop on the seafront with the majority of my bags, because it's comfortable and strong.
Inside my bag I'm carrying a Kate Spade pouch which I treated myself to last year, and which I put things like paracetamol and Gaviscon, glasses wipes etc in. My purse is Balenciaga, an umbrella (because UK), and a tiny pencil case with a couple of pens in. The navy blue pouch is a tissue pouch which I bought at a craft fair a few years back, and underneath is a glasses case from Oliver Bonas. My Ditsy notebook from Smythson I carry everywhere, a Burts bees lip balm and, a sparkly pink gloss little miss bought me for Christmas last year.
I carry a small book in case I am somewhere with nothing to do, a pink reusable shopping bag, a folding hairbrush. I always carry mints, but I'm battling through a cold at the moment so I have fishermen's friend's and throat sweets too. A snack bar, antibacterial spray, my house keys in my Louis Vuitton case and my car keys with the fabulous Aspinal of London butterfly keyring on them. Oh and of course, a small pack of wet wipes.
I'm always trying to edit what I carry, but I definitely don't travel light. This month this bag has been my go (almost) everywhere bag. It's been on multiple school runs, a weekend break with the chap (more on that when I get my photos back from the lab), shopping and so on. I do always find I need a couple of other bags during the month though for different activities.
My go to work bag for office days tends to be this Michael Kors Jet Set tote that Mum bought me for Christmas last year. It fits my laptop and all the other bits I need for a day at the office, and whilst it's not religiously a work bag because I'm trying to get out of the habit of labelling things to restrict their use, I do use it a lot for work. So I used that this month too.

Then, my Aspinal evening bag had a trip out for dinner while me and the chap were away. This bag must be about 20 years old now, does that make it vintage? It was Mum's, then she gave it to me. We've both used it a lot and honestly, it still looks as good as new. I tend to often reach for this one on nights out.
